The San Antonio
Botanical Garden, located close to downtown, encompasses 33 acres of
colorful seasonal floral displays and exotic plant specimens from around
the world. Highlights of the San Antonio Botanical Garden include
several formal gardens, the Lucile Halsell Conservatory, the Garden for
the Blind, Kumamoto En (an authentic Japanese Garden), and the
newly-renovated Texas Native Trail. This trail encompasses three
distinct pathways of extensive native collections representing the Hill
Country, East Texas Pineywoods and South Texas Plains. Four restored
early Texas houses, a limestone spring and bilingual signage enhance the
experience of the Texas Native Trail. The Lucile Halsell Conservatory is
a futuristic 91,000 square foot glass complex featuring diverse world
climates surrounding an aquatic garden courtyard.
Visitors enter the Garden through the
historic Carriage House where they find the Garden Gate Gift Shop and
Carriage House Bistro (restaurant closed Mondays). The Garden is open
every day from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.)
$7 Adults;
